MINUTES from TURKEY MEETING On Sunday, May 13 Welcoming to all the teams of the partner schools by the Coordinator teacher of Turkish team. Teachers were accommodated at KNDF Marine Hotel in Kartal, Istanbul. Students are accommodated at the host families.
On Monday, May 14 The project meeting was opened with the participation of Turkish teachers and students and a Turkish traditional folkloric dance presented by Turkish students at the cultural center next to the school where the project work would be done. At the conference hall the students of each team presented a power point presentation or videos on the inventions in Medicine and Chemistry technologies, which is the sub- topic of the meeting. After having lunch, the host school was visited by the teams and a sample English class was demonstrated to the teams. Then, the project teams of the countries continued the presentations at the cultural centre. After that, all the teams moved to Kartal city centre and took a sightseeing tour in the city centre.
On Tuesday May 15 We all moved to the old city of historical peninsula and visited Miniaturk(a craftwork museum about the most famous attractions of Turkey and the world), we visited the one of the oldest streets and the most famous one, istiklal street and Taksim. After the lunch at the restaurant under Galata Bridge, we had a bosphorus boat tour and enjoyed the amazing panorama of Bosphorus. Then, we took a tour in the Egyptian Bazaar, where we could see a lot of spices and old-fashioned medical herbals. The next stop was the Grand Bazaar, the most famous and the oldest shopping centre of Turkey.
On Wednesday May 16 All the partner school teams met at the Cultural Center to make their presentations about one of the most important scientist, inventor or a doctor from each countries’ own. Students made their presentations on slides and videos. A photo contest among students about Istanbul announced to be evaluated on the last day. After presentations, the local mayor of the neighbourhood where the host school located visited the project teams in the Cultural Centre and gave information to the guests about the neighbourhood. After the lunch, we moved to Haskoy to visit “Koç Museum”, includes thousands of old and new machines in different dimensions of our lives such as medicine, car technology, and ICT industry. All students and teachers took notes and photos during this visit. In the late afternoon, we went to a famous shopping centre for some special needs and all teams arrived at the hotel.
On Thursday May 17 The whole day was spent in the old city and some important museums were visited such as Hagia Sophia and Topkapı Palace. We went to Istanbul University Pharmacy Faculty Medicine Museum and The museum of Islamic Sciences and Technology. Students took photos for the contest and observed some examples of old and new buildings, vehicles and tools. Basilica Cistern was visited, which had been a water source for ages during the period of Byzantine and Ottoman Empire.
On Friday May 18 Project meeting activity at the culture centre, discussion about the results, work and tasks for the immediate future and for the Transnational mobility in Slovenia. The final work to be done will be: a booklet and reports made by two students about the mobility and the experience they had. Before lunch, all the teams met the Mayor and Councillor of the City Kartal, greetings and exchanging of gifts. The mayor gave a brief information about the city’s education, local services and city life. Next, all the teams continued the project works and voted for the best photo which had been taken during Istanbul mobility and the winners were awarded. After that, we went to the restaurant to have dinner together. All teams showed their traditional folk dances and had fun together. During the dinner, all participants were awarded with a certificate of attendance.
